Religious Education

At St Luke's College we aim to develop the whole person within a caring and supportive Christian Catholic environment and give witness to the values and teaching of the Gospel.

St Luke's College is first and foremost a Catholic School. The College acknowledges that the first Learning area in a Catholic school curriculum is Religious Education. All students, regardless of religious persuasion, join in the Religious Education program which is designed not only to promote the knowledge and understanding of the Christian message, but also to meet the needs of young people as they embrace the religious challenges of life in the 21st Century.

The Religious Education Course produced by Catholic Education of WA forms the core of the Religious Education program at St Luke's College. The content is mandated by the Bishops of Western Australia and our programs are written to encourage a sound knowledge of the Gospel values and Catholic Church teaching. As a curriculum area, Religious Education demands the same rigour and expectations of the other curriculum areas.

Students in Year 11 and 12 study the Religion and Life Course of Study. This course counts towards a student's Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). Students who study the ATAR units sit an external examination and this can contribute towards their ATAR score for entry into tertiary institutions.
