St Luke's College Welcomes the Migrant Jubilee Cross
This morning, St Luke's College gathered in faith and reflection to celebrate a special Mass marking the arrival of the Migrant Jubilee Cross to our school community.
The Migrant Jubilee Cross is a travelling Reliquary boat created as part of the Catholic Church's Jubilee celebrations. The cross honours the rich contributions migrants have made to Australian society and serves as a powerful reminder of the values of welcome, compassion and belonging.
Students and staff participated in a meaningful liturgy where they learnt about the significance of relics within the Catholic faith. The Mass provided an opportunity for prayer, reflection and veneration, encouraging the school community to deepen its understanding of Catholic traditions and heritage.
The Migrant Jubilee Cross contains four second-class relics, including fragments connected to the Holy Family and a relic from the original cedar coffin of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australia's first saint.
The visit offered a unique and memorable experience for students and staff, connecting them to the wider Church and the stories of faith, migration and hope that have shaped communities throughout history.
St Luke's College extends its gratitude to all those involved in facilitating this special occasion and sharing this important symbol of faith with our school community.
