St Luke's College Marks Holy Week with Faith, Reflection and Celebration
St Luke's College has come together in a spirit of reverence and community to observe Holy Week, the most significant period in the Catholic calendar. The week invites believers to reflect deeply on the final days of Jesus Christ's life, from Palm Sunday through to the celebration of Easter Sunday.
On Holy Thursday, students and staff gathered to commemorate the institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper. The liturgy provided an opportunity for the college community to reflect on the profound meaning of this sacrament, which symbolises Jesus' enduring presence and gift of love.
A central focus of the day was the Washing of the Feet, a powerful and humbling ritual that recalls Jesus' act of service to his disciples. This moment served as a reminder of the call for all members of the community to embody humility, compassion and care for others in their daily lives.
The celebration highlighted the broader message of Holy Week — a journey from sin and death towards mercy, unity and new life. As students received the Eucharist, they were encouraged to reflect on the significance of welcoming God, understood as love, into their lives.
Earlier in the day, the college also recognised student achievement by celebrating medal winners from the recent Swimming Carnival. The event brought a sense of pride and excitement, acknowledging the dedication and effort of participants.
Following the Mass, the Student Executive Team added a festive note by announcing the winners of the Easter raffle, further strengthening the sense of community and shared celebration.
