Year 7 Students Strengthen Bonds at Annual Pastoral Day

Last Friday, the Year 7 cohort embraced a day of connection, resilience and spirited competition during the College's much-anticipated Pastoral Day.

Led by their Heads of House, supported by the Wellbeing Team and guided by dedicated Peer Mentors, students participated in a series of activities designed to foster personal growth and strengthen relationships within the school community.

The day began with resilience-focused workshops and reflective sessions, giving students the opportunity to pause and consider their journey so far in their first year of secondary school. Working closely with their Heads of House, students explored strategies for overcoming challenges and building confidence in a supportive environment.

A highlight of the program was a resilience-building session facilitated by College Counsellor Jaclyn Nicholls. Students engaged in meaningful discussions and practical activities aimed at developing coping skills and emotional awareness — tools that will support them well beyond the classroom.

Team-building activities, run by the Peer Mentors, encouraged collaboration, communication and trust. These sessions not only strengthened house spirit but also deepened connections between year levels, reinforcing a strong sense of belonging across the College.

The day concluded on a high-energy note with a house-versus-house ultimate water battle. Laughter, friendly rivalry and enthusiastic participation set the tone as students showcased their team pride ahead of this Friday's upcoming swimming carnival.

Pastoral Day once again proved to be an invaluable experience, providing students and staff with a meaningful opportunity to build lasting relationships, reflect on personal growth and celebrate the vibrant spirit of the Year 7 cohort.
