Opening Assembly Sets an Impressive Tone for the Year Ahead

Last week marked the official start of the new school year, and it began on a high note with an energetic and inspiring opening assembly. Students and staff gathered to celebrate achievements, welcome new faces, and set a positive tone for the months ahead.

The assembly opened with a warm address from Principal Mr Correia, who reflected on the opportunities a new school year brings. He also introduced several new staff members to the school community, encouraging students to make them feel welcome as they settle into their roles.

Student leadership played a key part in the event. Head Boy Yani and Head Girl Olivia shared their vision for the year, outlining their goals to strengthen school spirit, encourage inclusivity, and create memorable experiences for all students. Their enthusiasm was echoed by Sports Captains Ava and Lawson, who energised the crowd with a preview of the exciting sporting events and competitions planned for the year.

A major highlight of the assembly was Mr Beins' announcement of the newest members of the ATAR 90s Club. He also recognised members of the Class of 2025 who achieved distinctions and merits in their final results. The celebration of academic excellence was met with proud applause from peers and staff alike, acknowledging the dedication and hard work of these high-achieving students.

The school community was also honoured to welcome guest speaker Adam Main from Yara Pilbara. During the assembly, he presented Brian Nguyen — Head Boy of 2025 and Dux — with the 2025 Yara Pilbara Academic Excellence Scholarship. The prestigious award recognises exceptional academic performance and leadership, and Brian's achievement was celebrated as a proud moment for the entire school.

With inspiring messages, well-deserved recognitions, and a strong sense of community, the opening assembly set the stage for what promises to be an outstanding year ahead.
