Year 12s Celebrate Faith, Friendship and Fun on Retreat and Pastoral Day

Our Year 12 students recently stepped away from the usual school routine for a meaningful two-day experience designed to foster reflection, connection, and celebration — and they did just that.

The Retreat Day, held in Dampier, began with a beautiful Mass at St Peter's Church, celebrated by Fr. Tai. Centred on the theme The Beatitudes, the day invited students to pause and reflect on deeper values. A highlight of the day was a thought-provoking session led by Mr. Mazza, where students explored each Beatitude and reflected on people in their lives who live out those qualities.

Alongside quiet moments of reflection, the day also included plenty of fun, laughter, games, and a shared meal — all in a spirit of togetherness that set the tone for the days to follow.

The Year 12 Pastoral Day began with a burst of creativity on Tuesday evening during the Ready, Steady, Cook Challenge, where students teamed up to prepare delicious meals from basic pantry staples. House Coordinators were impressed by both the teamwork and the taste! A huge thank you to Mrs. Botha for coordinating this lively and engaging event.

The evening continued with a Q&A panel discussing life after school, a casual pizza dinner, and plenty of laughs during Tara's quiz.

On Day Two, students were invited to place their birthplace on the college map — a powerful and visual reminder of the diversity within the Year 12 cohort. In House groups, students completed the Be Attitudes activity, offering kind and affirming words to one another.

A Mini Olympics brought out the competitive spirit, followed by the Relay for Life challenge — a light-hearted race through everyday tasks. One of the bigger hurdles? Filling out a form correctly, as several students hilariously missed the "write in capitals" instruction.

The two-day celebration ended on a high — and in a splash of colour — with a joyful Colour Run, marking the perfect finish to a retreat focused on community, positivity, and embracing the final chapter of school life.

A huge thank you goes to all the staff and students who helped make this event such a memorable and meaningful experience for our graduating class.
