On Friday, March 21st, the St Luke's College community came together for an exciting and action-packed day at the Karratha Leisureplex for the much-anticipated Inter-House Swimming Carnival. Students from all year levels swam, cheered, and supported their houses in what turned out to be a truly memorable event, despite the conditions being almost bearable throughout the day.
The festivities kicked off with fierce competition in the pool, but not before Maitland House took the spotlight with their lively and passionate chant, clinching the "Best Chant" award and setting the tone for the spirited atmosphere that would follow. As the day progressed, the pool became a battleground of speed, skill, and determination. Students raced their hearts out in a variety of events, from sprints to relays, with some even breaking long-standing records, leaving the crowd in awe of their impressive performances.
While the competition in the water was intense, the true highlight of the day was the unwavering support shown by the students, teachers, and parents. The spirit of camaraderie and house pride was evident throughout the day, with everyone getting involved, whether it was racing in the water, supporting from the sidelines, or assisting behind the scenes. This collective effort ensured that the carnival was a success from start to finish, and the energy was contagious.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the parent helpers, staff, and, of course, the students who put in everything they had—whether in the pool or on the sidelines—making the event such a success. The level of dedication and sportsmanship displayed was truly inspiring, and it contributed to creating an unforgettable day.
As the final results were tallied, there were several standout moments. Harding House claimed victory in the Leprechaun Cup, impressively securing the top spot with an exceptional display of talent and teamwork. However, it was Fortescue House that continued to assert its dominance in recent years, clinching the highly coveted Overall Shield once again, a testament to their consistent strength and commitment across all events.
Congratulations are in order for all medal and shield winners, whose hard work and perseverance paid off, and a massive thank you to everyone who participated, whether as a swimmer, a cheerleader, or a supporter. The success of the day was down to the collective effort of every individual involved. As the day came to a close, everyone left the poolside exhausted but proud of the incredible energy and passion that had defined the carnival.
