Ella Dale's 'Green' Mission

Ella Dale, a Year 12 student with a passion for sustainability and a vision to transform her community of Karratha. Our Head Girl has taken on an ambitious project to beautify the town by growing and donating over 100 native trees to her local community.

"I initially established a native plant nursery at school, inspired by the city council's investment in planting mature trees along local roads. Since then, I've collaborated with the Scouts, Karratha Community House, Salvation Army, and Cheeditha Aboriginal Community.

Karratha is an incredible place to live, but it can be harsh and dry. By planting native trees, we're creating shade, supporting wildlife, and making our town even more beautiful for future generations. This is my way of giving back."

"Trees offer numerous benefits: they provide shade, improve air quality, and make spaces more inviting. Small actions, such as planting a tree, can have a significant impact. This project encourages students to take ownership of their environment and think long-term. Caring for the environment not only strengthens communities but also makes towns more liveable," Ella said.

Ella's journey is a testament to the power of youth leadership and community support in making a tangible impact. Her dedication to creating a greener Karratha is an inspiration to all, demonstrating that even small actions can lead to significant change.

"The trees are ready to go now – I just need people who are willing to plant them and care for them."
