Book Week - Read, Grow, Inspire!

Book Week was once again an enjoyable week of events where we were able to reflect, not only on how important books are in our busy lives, but also how books have influenced us since childhood. The theme this year was Read, Grow Inspire. Mrs Kleyhnhans and the rest of the English Department planned and organised a very exciting week of events to celebrate.

We kicked the week off with a Digital Zombie Escape Room where students were summoned to help find a cure for Mrs Smith who was trapped in Zombie land! If that didn't spark students interest, maybe the "Extreme Reading" competition did. Students were to submit photos of themselves reading in unusual places over a period of four days. We saw students reading on the river in a kayak, in their swimming pool, on top of the fridge, and one reader at the edge of the Wolfe Creek meteorite crater in the great sandy desert. The Library had a display of mystery books (books wrapped in brown paper and tied with string) that students could borrow for a surprise read. Kahoot Quizzes ran all week during PCG and there was also a "Where's Wally" search during lunch times,

But..... the main event was the Book Parade! On Wednesday, students and Teachers were invited to dress up as their favorite book / film character. Each of the Houses held a House parade in the morning during extended PCG and then those who wanted to, also entered into the lunch time parade. There were prizes up for grabs for best dressed individuals, pairs & groups.

Individual Winners: Murphy Watts (Lightning McQueen) Hayley Parker (Paddington Bear), Indi Voight (No one likes a Fart) & Savannah Simmons (Bellatrix Strange)

Pairs Winners: Bryce Mitchell & Teniel Hadley (Peter Pan & Tinkerbell); Stella Pool & Carmen Miller (Kath & Kim), Barbie Girls complete with Car

Groups: Winnie the Pooh Clan (Katelyn Cox, Ruby Murphy & Heliena DeGuzman); and The Sad Ghost Club (Vaida Inkster & co)

Well done and thank you to all those who joined in the fun with Dress – up Day. You all looked fantastic! It's so nice to see so many people participating, so well done!
