Sporting Opportunities

At St Luke's College, our experienced teachers and state of the art facilities and equipment enable us to  offer just about every sport you can think of, but many of our Term 1-3 Health & PE classes are focused around school carnivals:

  • Term 1: Swimming at the Karratha Leisureplex
  • Term 2: King & Queen of the Mountain (Cross-country)
  • Term 3: Athletics at Bulgarra Oval

Outdoor Education

Our experienced teachers and external providers offer opportunities for Outdoor Education students to make the most of the amazing environment we live in. Following the Leave No Trace principle, students can find themselves learning any or all of the following:

  • Kayaking
  • Snorkeling
  • Sailing
  • Mountain Biking
  • Camp Craft
  • Bronze Medallions
  • Recreational Skippers Tickets

Each of our courses culminate in a 1-2 night camp-out to put newly acquired skills to the test!

Specialised Netball & Basketball Programs

These full-year courses in Year 9 and 10 allow students the opportunity to extend their knowledge and skills in their preferred sports. With progressions in mind, specific physical skills and knowledge of tactics of the game are incorporated so that students can move from basic to advanced plays by the completion of the course. Our expert coaches have an emphasis on fitness requirements, and the chance for students to gain their umpiring and coaching qualifications in collaboration with KBA and KNA.

Interschool Carnivals

Each term we take on the best of the best from around the Pilbara. Teams from St Luke's, Hedland, Newman, Tom Price, KSHS, Pannawonica, Roebourne and Onslow compete for trophies, all in the name of fair-play. Having not lost a carnival since 2019, St Luke's has quite the reputation to uphold each time we compete!

Term 1: Pilbara Swimming Carnival – Karratha Leisureplex

Term 2: Tom Price Cup – Years 7-10 Netball & Football Carnival

Term 3: Interschool Athletics Carnival – Port Hedland

& Country Week – Years 9-12 Netball, Basketball, Volleyball, Cricket in Perth

Term 4: Lightening Carnival – Years 7-10 Basketball, Touch Football, Volleyball, Futsal Carnival at Karratha Leisureplex
